The following videos have been selected to show my most recent creative work along with past work that I feel connects to where I am today. I want to share through the medium of video my music, dance, lyrics and visual aesthetics.
I began working on this in the summer of 2023. This video was shot June 1st after I had initially performed it as a work in progress April 27th, 2024 for a small group of colleagues and friends. This video shows the piece in its entirety performed at Performance Works NW in Portland, OR. I worked on the piece in the space during the winter of 2024. Video shot by Jay Cosnett and lighting design by Jeff Forbes.
I captured this experiment while working in the studio at Performance Works NW in Portland, OR. This was inspired by a poem "The Storytellers" that ended up getting cut from the piece. There is something so raw and unrefined in both the music and the dance that I find really interesting. This is one of the few longer videos I have that captures my experimentation process and the relationship between improvisation in music and dance.
I shot the video for this song on the Oregon Coast. I am interested in natural images and am looking to use video in forthcoming live performance pieces. This captures my visual aesthetic well.
This video came from an image I had of a woman on the sand with a natural mandala around her head and her hair staked to the sand. I wrote the instrumental and this was the beginning of me leaning into the violin and strings to express something I saw visually first. The video was shot by Martin Vavra and was created in Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast.
This video is important to return to because it was the first time I had created a dance piece to my own music. There was something so profound about dancing to my own words and music and I know that this piece is important on the path back to my current work.
